mingyu depiction inspiration. kind of hijacked this prompt as soon as i saw it bc i've been trying to write this since JULY... really sorry about that...

Seokmin is sort of a peculiar young man, maybe in his early thirties, dressed in awkward tweed and in the middle of processing the papers he’d just been served with. He’s shrinking into the armchair he’s sitting in, as if he could make himself disappear. A familiar sight to Mingyu, nonetheless, as dealing with divorcees is just part of what his job entails. The lead attorney had introduced Mingyu to Seokmin as his assistant earlier.
Seokmin, face angular and drawn, glances up from the papers in his hands and meets Mingyu with kindness in his eyes.
He looks understandably forlorn but good—he looks like somebody worth protecting. Mingyu wants nothing more than take his thumb and smooth out the stress gathering between his furrowed brows.
Mingyu is flawed and he is selfish and possibly even depraved. He likes a challenge.
Likes it when he runs into Seokmin outside of a bar one weekend, likes it when he feels hurt and beaten down after the long week, and sees it reflected back to him in Seokmin’s eyes. Likes it when every line he knows and trick in the book provokes bickering, before Seokmin caves in and reciprocates.
Likes it even more when they both stumble into a public restroom together and Seokmin claws at Mingyu’s thighs, inching his hands upward and slipping them underneath the fabric, and groping the curved flesh of his stomach.
When Seokmin sticks a finger between Mingyu's lips, and all he can do is suck on it.
When Mingyu breaks away, mouth lingering over Seokmin’s mouth with soft breaths of a question:
Why are we doing this?
And then,
Why are you letting me?
Seokmin does the merciful thing and takes Mingyu home.

Kim Mingyu got used to being a man who could keep it together. A man who could play by the rules and put in hard work and make his parents proud.
A man wouldn’t act on desire until, suddenly, the limitations turned real and everything tasted bitter from the calamity of wanting someone he couldn’t ever have.
Until Lee Seokmin stumbled and crashed into his life and left Mingyu’s heart writhing helplessly in his chest. And until Seokmin reminded him that restraint means hunger and hungry men like them happily feast on scraps and lick their ragged fingers afterward and stay hungry, until—
Until.

It’s uncomfortable at best, being Seokmin’s best-kept secret.
He’s the kind of person who’s bright and open about almost everything, inviting lesser bystanders like Mingyu to ask more, want more. He wasn’t prone to deceit. Once Mingyu thinks he’s learned all there is to know, the guilt cuts deep, because there’s really no way around it.
He has a direct hand in damaging Seokmin’s goodness. He knows these things intimately.
But Mingyu has a wound festering deep inside of him. When Seokmin kisses him, touches him, marks the center of Mingyu’s brutish heart with the flag of his affection, he does not fight against it.
He kisses back. He touches back. Selfishly, villainously, he takes anything that is given to him.
If he has to be a secret he’ll be a damn good one, he convinces himself. Surely he can be good in other ways. He shouldn't bite the hand that feeds him.

It’s a quiet, chilly night in Mingyu’s neighborhood. Inside Seokmin’s tiny car, the heater runs on low and fills the space between them with familiar warmth. The perfect setting to indulge his lover.
Mingyu shuffles closer to Seokmin, leaning into his touch.
“I missed you today,” Seokmin whispers, bringing a perfectly manicured finger to tug on Mingyu’s shirt collar, eyes glistening softly under the low lights. The novelty of car seat trysts should have worn off a long time ago, but most things never go the way they ought to.
Mingyu places a hand over Seokmin’s, rubbing absently at every individual groove of his fingers. Notices how frayed his bitten-down cuticles look next to Seokmin’s perfect ones.
“You’re so spoiled. I saw you three and a half days ago,” he scolds, chewing his bottom lip.
Seokmin’s face lights up despite the tiredness in his demeanor. “You really counted? Ah, you’re so obsessed with me,” he teases. reveling in the extra attention.
“Of course I counted,” Mingyu says hoarsely. “Of course.”
Seokmin stills as if he could see the desperation and longing that overtakes Mingyu, blinding smile falling from his sweet face.
Then their gloves and jackets come off as easily as peels would. They had starved for each other all week and the only fix was to be in each others’ arms, bare bodies pressed against each other like naked fruit.
Seokmin’s eyes flutter shut as he leans in to kiss Mingyu, who responds with eager licks into his mouth.
Sure. Mingyu’s hands can do harm. He knows it as he does it.
But maybe there is a world where Mingyu can have Seokmin the way he wants to and where Mingyu's hands can belie their purpose.
He brings a palm down to Seokmin's pants and listens intently to his little sighs of pleasure and wonders if he could ever be capable of a gentler, lovelier thing.
