It's a classic.
Boy meets boy in a self-serve ice cream shop drunk off his ass on New Year's Eve. Boy ends up going home with boy after some minutes of miserable flirting.
Boy discovers that the newest entry to Top Five Best Lays of His Life is a famous actor by tripping over a poster of his face.
But Mingyu doesn't fit into the life of someone who's a tabloid staple, and he's seen enough of himself online to start to feel anxious about the whole thing.
Wonwoo keeps his distance. Mingyu hopes that he'll start to forget. But Seoul is a small town that disguises itself as a big city, and Wonwoo claims that he favors the bakery closer to Mingyu's apartment than his own. Every time feels too close to breaking the illusion.

In an episode of his currently-running drama, Wonwoo asks his love interest, "What do you want?"
When Mingyu peels himself from the warm arm around his waist, it's Wonwoo's sleepy sigh making him want to stay. "You're so real."
Reality is overrated.

He thinks he's fine, and then Wonwoo invites Mingyu's roommate to film screening, and Soonyoung insists on him being a plus-one.
Until Mingyu catches Wonwoo shrinking into the wallpaper after being barraged by press, and asks him if he wants company.
Until Wonwoo responds, "Anywhere but here," and leads him to the elevator.
Until they're splitting bottles from the mini-bar in his private suite talking about their life aspirations and how different things would've been if only, if only.
Until he's asking Mingyu if this is okay, and his heart screams yes. Even when his costar flirts and drapes herself on Wonwoo's body for the rest of the night, Mingyu goes home knowing that she can smell him.
He doesn't feel the shame until Minghao asks him what he wants.
The plane ticket to Shenyang shows up in his inbox two hours after they hang up.

Boy gets in the cab on his way to the airport and hears an interview with the person he's trying his hardest to stop missing. The music doesn't swell, and Mingyu doesn't cry. But he does unblock Wonwoo's number.
"What are you doing?" gets met with "Waiting for you."
Wonwoo's face stares down at him from a bus ad. Mingyu sends Minghao an apology and redirects his cab from Incheon to the other side of town.

I love your Mingyu so much... I hope I have the right words for this but I love the way they meet in a mundane setting and then it bleeds into what Wonwoo does, this big world of his Mingyu's not entirely certain he wants to jump into. When he does, he brings Wonwoo aside to have a private moment, becomes his reprieve--and it's like going back and forth, not quite knowing where to stand between who Wonwoo is with him and who Wonwoo is to the rest of the world?
Minghao here is perfect. I can't elaborate further but he just is. I know practically nothing about their relationship except he's the person who would have Mingyu with him at the first sign that he's not okay, the person Mingyu would have gone on a plane for if it weren't for Wonwoo. I think that's really all I need to know.
When I came to the ending, I couldn't help but feel torn because ;___; man. He is Not Good for you. But also: yeah Boy go to him!!!!!
This is lovely, everything wanted and more. like, is it not enough to already be famous? now this person is haunting the places near you just to be close? that constant reminder of what could happen if that you'll also never get is so ripe.
