“Hey Hao where’s my-“
“It’s on the nightstand where you left it yesterday.”
Junhui harrumphed. “You don’t even know what I was going to ask you for. That nightstand has a lot of stuff on it right now. How could you have possibly known-“
“You just came out from the bathroom. You hate wearing your rings when you’re in the bathroom so you take them off and put them on the nightstand before you do your nightly routine and sleep. Then when you wake up, the first thing you do is go wash your face before you go back into the bedroom to get dressed so, your rings are where you left them the night before: on the nightstand.” Minghao says cooly, not even glancing up from his phone screen.
Junhui stares at him in silence before Soonyoung leans over to Seokmin and they ooh in unison. “It’s like they’re telepathic or something,” Seokmin says in awe, eyes darting back between Minghao’s content face and Junhui’s sheer confusion and disgruntlement. Wordlessly Junhui pads into his and Minghao’s shared room and looks down at the dark oak nightstand. As Minghao said, there they were. He slipped both rings on, with Seokmin’s words echoing in the back of his mind. It’s like they’re telepathic or something.
Junhui snorts. He would hope after living with the same person for the past 5 years that they would know something about each other’s quirks and traits. And it wasn’t just Minghao who was observant. Junhui could almost tell like clockwork when Minghao would get hit with inspiration for a new dance routine or poem or photography idea. Their familiarity with each other created a new language almost. Something that although the 13 of them as bandmates had, the connection between him and Minghao was just...different. Maybe it was the fact that they were both often sent on the same schedules together. “China line” they were affectionately called together. Sharing similar languages helped in communicating, translating...and the inside jokes. When Minghao was on hiatus due to his back injury, Junhui’s mood was significantly lower and it was the same impact on Minghao when Junhui was taking time away from their world tour. Two sides of the same coin; Minghao and Junhui, Junhui and Minghao.
He twisted the rings on his fingers, humming in deep thought. He never felt like he had to explain himself to Minghao...it was like he just understood him. Something that most people would kill to have; a partner who you just had this unspeakable link with. The perfect relationship. Not that it was a bad thing if you had to talk things out, it made you grow stronger as a couple if you did that. Test the waters of time with challenges and withstand the worst of storms together. But they had done that. They made it through trainee days, debut, scandals, rumours and gossip and somehow they were here. Junhui and Minghao; Minghao and Junhui. Two sides of the same coin, different yet drawn together. A comfortable familiarity between them.
Lovers. Junhui opened the nightstand drawer and felt around for a small velvet box. Soulmates. He opened it to see the neatly polished band of diamonds and silver shining back at him. Together as one. He smiled to himself and hoped that although Minghao knew him well, that he could still manage to have a few surprises up his sleeve.
“Thanks Hao, I found them. You were right.”

This is so good, I love it, I just, I just love it i was NOT expecting the RING but i LOVE IT EVEN MORE and yes excellent characterisation and brilliant drawing on canon bits and pieces but I JUST LOVED IT it was sort of dreamy and perfect and I loved it.
