About
The world is full of beautiful words. The tongue has no bones but is strong enough to break a heart. Words start wars and end them, create love and choke it, bring us to laughter and joy and tears. There is no falsehood in words, only in things.
Calling all readers, lovers of poetry and music, screen and stage. If you have a google spreadsheet of Metric/Marina/Mitski/Macklemore lyrics, now's your time to shine. What does Nobel Laureate Louise Glück have in common with the Future of Kpop Lee Chan? I don't know, but we can find out.
Examples
Junhui + The Archer
"Easy they come, easy they go
I jump from the train, I ride off alone
I never grew up, it's getting so old
Help me hold onto you"
Taylor Swift - The Archer
Verhao; "I loved him from the moment he walked in"
Just thinking about all the verhao soft feelings from the last week of November, especially the killer tweet from @literarykpop with the quote:
"I laughed and said, ‘Life is easy.’ What I meant was, ‘Life is easy with you here, and when you leave, it will be hard again." - Miranda July
95 line - R18
"Houston, we have a problem."

I divorced the quotes from their original context because the Ferris wheel line just sounds like it should be nsfw, doesn't it?
***
Mingyu’s head lolls back. His muscles relax in the summery bathwater. Bidding farewell to the day’s tribulations, he eases his exhaustion into a more manageable discomfort.
Minghao perches on the edge of the tub and skims his fingers on the soapy surface. Fluorescents should wash out his pale skin, but instead he just looks pretty. Untouchable. A marble statue befitting the silver-tiled walls and ivory grout of their fancy dorm bathroom.
Mingyu takes his hand and watches water sluice between their tangled fingers like tinsel. Contentment settles around them. On another day it would be overwhelming—how rarely they get this time together!—but Mingyu is just happy to be here, relaxing beside one of his favorite people in the world. Feeling loved.
Gratitude wells up in his throat. Minghao tucks his own hair behind his ear and holds back a shy smile. “What?”
“Mmm,” Mingyu says. “Just, thanks for being here.”
Minghao shrugs. “It’s nothing. Would’ve been a problem if you drowned in our bathtub.”
“Maybe a small problem.”
“A tiny one.”
Mingyu’s laugh edges on loopy. “I have to wash my hair.” He drops Minghao’s hand. It takes his full concentration to sit up straight, shivering as cool air prickles over his exposed chest like needles. “Ughh. Hand me the shampoo?”
For a moment, Minghao doesn’t respond. His eyes are heavy and locked onto an unspecified spot below Mingyu’s chin.
Self-conscious, Mingyu glances down to make sure he doesn’t have a zit or something, but it’s just his chest. Crystal droplets hang from his collarbones and trail down his pecs. He looks pretty good, actually.
Oh.
Minghao blinks. He reaches back mechanically and grabs the expensive L’Oreal shampoo that they share. Instead of passing it over, he hesitates, fiddling with the lid. Sharp pomegranate scent overlays the lavender.
Mingyu takes a chance. “Will you do it for me?”
“Wash your hair?” Minghao asks, not looking up. It’s rare that he looks this uncertain. Despite how much they share, this is… new.
“Please.”
Audibly Minghao swallows. He kneels on the tile and slowly squeezes a dollop of shampoo onto his palm—more than Mingyu usually uses. His fingers twitch. It must be cold on his skin. Mingyu dunks fully underwater, brushes through his bangs to get every follicle properly soaked, feeling his heart flutter into his throat with anticipation. He loves Minghao’s hands.
Minghao slathers both palms in shampoo. “Sit up.”
Mingyu obeys eagerly. The first touch against his scalp is light. Minghao spreads the solution in rhythmic motions, as if stroking a dog straight down its spine, and if Mingyu had a tail it would surely be wagging.
When the fingers dig in and begin massaging, his whole body jellifies. Feels good doesn’t cover it. His sigh of pleasure solidifies into a groan, mouth parted, and Mingyu is so ecstatic that he doesn’t care how salacious he looks. He’s comfortable.
Minghao giggles. “You like this?”
Mingyu can’t glare at him because he’s busy building a mental shrine to Minghao’s fingers. He manages a drawling, “Yeeeaaaahhh.”
The relief of sudden comfort is so staggering that his eyelids droop. He’s slept sitting up before, of course, and he could probably get away with it right now since Minghao will notice if his nose goes underwater. Mingyu’s thoughts spin out…
“Ah ah ah,” Minghao murmurs. The ministrations in his hair pause. A tap-tap-tap finger meets Mingyu’s nose. “No sleeping in the bath. Too dangerous.”
Mingyu cracks open both eyes. Despite the severity of his tone, Minghao’s face is tranquil and warm. The way he’s looking at Mingyu makes the room feel smaller.
“I’m sleepy,” Mingyu mumbles, and this time his fricatives slur together against his will.
Stubbornly he closes his eyes. The massage continues as Minghao gently squeezes shampoo into his bangs.
“But I said no sleeping,” Minghao says, his breath tingling across Mingyu’s cheek. This is punctuated by a soft pressure against Mingyu’s lips. “Stay awake.” Again, longer, with the quiet but unmistakable smack of a kiss.
Mingyu opens his eyes and Minghao is right there, a flush on his cheeks, almost too close to make eye contact. The hands in his hair pause. They’ve kissed before, but—spurred on by a post-performance high, or alcohol, or the urgency of two guys who can’t get a minute of privacy with anyone else.
They don’t usually kiss like this, in cooling bath waters while Minghao is fully dressed and Mingyu is so sleepy he thinks he might be dreaming. This has to be a dream, right? Minghao wouldn’t kiss him without the intent to fuck. That’s the only reason they kiss. To take the edge off.
But this intimacy isn't unwelcome. As they stare at each other, drowning in thirty centimeters of silence, Mingyu can’t read the expression on Minghao’s face. His breathing is even. His thumb strokes the vulnerable skin on Mingyu’s neck where hair tapers away. There is nothing amiss, nothing noteworthy in his face, and that confidence is enough for Mingyu to follow without question.
So Mingyu melts.
He leans forward, bridging the gap, trading the chaste kisses back. Minghao digs his fingers more firmly into Mingyu’s scalp and tugs him closer. Mingyu obliges—opens up. Lets him in. Sucks at Minghao’s bottom lip.
Typically Minghao is a little aggressive when they kiss. He likes it breathless, he likes to feel Mingyu squirm. Mingyu likes that, too—likes it even better when he can negotiate the upper hand and make Minghao blush all the way down his chest. He’s learned which touches will leave Minghao crying out for more.
This time their mouths move lazy and slow. There’s no teasing, just ease and comfort, and Minghao holds him in place with heartbreaking tenderness. Mingyu makes a soft noise into the kiss, which Minghao swallows down. His pulse flutters in his neck.
When they part, Minghao has purple soap bubbles crusted to his temple. Mingyu reaches over and wipes them away, feeling Minghao’s eyelashes tickle the inside of his wrist when he gets close. A butterfly kiss. His elbow moves too sharply—it knocks a sheen of water over the side which pools on the floor like glass.
Minghao laughs into the warm space between them. “Thanks, now my socks are wet.”
“Sorry,” Mingyu says, but he’s smiling.
Re: [FILL] taste the sun in the back of my throat
you write this so acutely, I felt like I was in the moment with them hyperaware of the space between them, or watching a movie where the director was stretching every second, pulling close-ups of every detail. Mingyu's loopiness was so tangible to me and his puppy! thoughts! so languorous and relaxed and now I feel like I'm ready to go to bed.
Going away from this, I think I will remember the intensity of this, how intimate this moment was even though it was slow and domestic. It feels so powerful in a raw way. Thanks for writing!! I enjoyed reading this~
