i am in awe of u. silence is a weapon in & of itself and u used it so beautifully here. it becomes alive, tangible, visceral. the way wonwoo lugs around his silence is painful and raw but also unbelievably real as he deals with loss in various stages (and the grief that comes with it, the silence that is expected and the expectation that becomes burdensome). it’s recognizable. u have put names to feelings that are hard to grasp. and even when his silence gets recognized in the end.. its beautiful. all of it. (“ Everything pours out of you now like a monsoon thunderstorm.”
another favorite section: Your train is on time and you’ll be home in three hours but you already know, in the way that dogs know of oncoming earthquakes, that your uncle lied to you on the phone, that your father is already dead.

There are no lies, no continued pretence on arrival. Just a corpse and its silence.
