People prompt, people fill prompts, and prompts get remixed. All types of fanworks are welcome (fics, poetry, fanart, media!). It is designed to be low on stress* and high on inspiration. *self-inflicted stress not included How it works PROMPT ► FILL ► REMIX ONE: For three weeks, prompts will be submitted as comments under this post. This year, all prompts must contain a quote. TWO: As soon as 17hols opens, any prompt can get filled. A prompt can be filled multiple times and there is no deadline for filling. THREE: If the filler is open to getting remixed, others can make derivative work of the fill (like a retelling, a fanart, a pod fic, a poem, a translation, or a barely tangential story that was inspired by the fill). This is an example of a prompt, that got filled and remixed, and then filled again (and remixed again). ✧ EXTRAS ✧    The admins will update a dreamwidth masterlist for the 4 weeks of the fest as well as our multi-year database on Notion (583 fills and counting!). ✧    We have a baiting post. If you have an agenda, some ideas you want to do, or a weak spot, go make a bait list for yourself. Prompters can look at the bait list and fashion their prompt to 'bait' creators by targeting their interests. ✧    For the competitive folk, we will hand out prizes for (1) top 3 users with the most fills (2) most prolific remixer and (3) the longest fill of the fest! ✧    Check out the FAQ below if you have any questions, or see the discussion on twitter. ✧ still unsure? Dates PROMPT   28 DEC 2024 - 19 JAN 2025 FILL/REMIX   28 DEC 2024 - FOREVER OFFICIAL CLOSE   SUNDAY 26 JAN 2025 NOTE: Fills and remixes can be done whenever, even after the closing of the round. At the official close, the mods will stop monitoring and updating. The time zones is a gut feeling, though we try to open on GMT+12 and close GMT-12. Rules Sign up is not required. Fills have a minimum of 400 words for prose, haiku-length for poetry (3 lines), and 400px by 400px for art (memes are also art). Other mediums are fine too! There is no maximum cap. Tag and provide content warnings at your discretion, but a good guide are the Ao3 four (Graphic Depictions of Violence, Major Character Death, Rape/Non-Con, Underage) and this list of common CWs (cr: SportsFest). NSFW/Explicit content should be tagged NSFW art should not be visible. Please provide a link to the art. You may crop the artwork and embed a SFW preview. Specific rules and instructions will be in the post for each round. FAQ Do I need a dreamwidth account? No, anonymous commenting is enabled. Do I need to sign up? No, you can participate whenever you want, there are no commitments. Do you have a twitter? @17hols. How do I get updates? If you have a dreamwidth account, you can subscribe to the 17hols community. 🔔 You can click the bell symbol on each round to get an email whenever someone comments. If it's too much, click on [MORE OPTIONS] and choose [Someone makes a new top-level comment] to get notifications whenever a prompt is posted. 🔔 You can also click the bell on a comment to get notifications when someone replies. Can I prompt and write about other groups? Cameos and crossovers are fine!! Can a prompt be filled multiple times? Yes. And there can be multiple remixes. And remixes of remixes. How do I fill out the prompt/fill form? PROMPTING Ship/Member: These are the members and ships you want to see in the fill. [Any] is the default entry, but you can be as specific or as broad as you like. Wonhui, Jeongcheol, Hoshi x J-Hope, Any Member + Justin Bieber, cameos, references, Joshua Hong playing guitar in the background... Major Tags: Please flag if your prompt contains any of the AO3 four (Graphic Violence, MCD, Rape/Noncon, Underage). Flagging here does NOT imply that the fill must have this content. It is a content warning for the prompt only. Additional Tags: Anything you feel requires tagging, can include snazzy tumblr-style tags or those worthy of going on the svt ao3 tag twitter. Do Not Wants: Anything you absolutely do not want to see in a fill. FILLING Major Tags: Please flag if your fill is explicit or if it contains any of the AO3 Four. Anything else is up to your discretion. Permission to Remix?: This lets people know if they can remix your fill in a reply. The options are: Yes/No/Please ask. Feel free to be specific e.g. if you have blanket permissions for certain forms (like podfic) but would like to be asked for all others. The other sections are descriptive of your fill. What was this inspired by? It's based off the anime kink meme format, and the bonus rounds of various fandom olympics (example). Comment ficathons were popular on livejournal and dreamwidth where your dear OP had a fun time and wanted to recreate the happiness for Seventeen fandom. OP had friends who were also nostalgic and after a few chats and encouragement, 17hols was born. I have a question not on this list.
