NJ OH MY GOD... i knew i was in for a ride when i saw the seokcheol but YOU... your seokmin is as always wonderful and so real, and here you really show so much of that. seeing him feeling so much for seungcheol in the beginning, almost excitedly, and then finding out about their past, that he could feel so much, that he was happy in a way, was so so so heartbreaking. especially in the clip right before the procedure, when the words keep falling out of his mouth, and he says; I want you. I want so much. I guess that’s why I have to let this go, but it’s still hard, i think i died a little. you always do such a wonderful job of taking seokmin and putting him in such painful, difficult situations, looking at him under a different light, asking questions and finding answers, yet he's always the same person full of want and love in the end. going back to understand seungcheol's reactions during their conversation before the kiss also made me so crazy, to see him remembering it all and trying not to let anything slip. this whole thing was just so, so wonderful. thank you so much for writing, you're amazing <3

OH oh this is so good!! it will be the only name his mouth will ever worship. what a statement!! Ahhh, I love how this felt, so folkloric and chilling. The dynamic is perfect for gyuhan with mismatched power + dog-like loyalty + nefarious schemes... I enjoyed this so much thank you!!

GYUHANCHEOL MCD LOVE CONGA LINE!!?

It is so cool how you handled the remix - it felt like layering, with the addition of seungcheol + references to whole other lives and stories that complement the original plot and characters. You both did such a great job with the fantasy world-building. Mingyu looked over, it’s one of the court dancers, Minghao. Something in his chest flutters, like a warm breeze, but then his mind whirls back to Jeonghan, Jeonghan. you know this made me go bananas hahahah. A hint of gyuhao which might've once been possible but has since been smothered by jeonghan's meddling triangulation crimes? DELICIOUS. The allusions to a Circe-esque jeongcheol backstory are super enticing too... selfishly I am hoping there are more and more remixes in this universe. Entranced!Mingyu's POV was one of my favorite parts. It's so jarring to feel his detachment toward his previous life... also of course Mingyu's heart soars. He's a good boy, Jeonghan said so! The puppy-isms!! Yes!!

SORRY I'M SO LATE TO REPLY TO THIS BUT I WAS ON HOLIDAYS OMG AAAAAAAAAA this!!!!! this is so good my dear, it definitely satisfied something. i love jeongcheol as c2, it makes me feel so feral. jeonghan as the golden boy and cheol as the one who has to fight with all his powers to get the best of him, because jh has the upper hand always, and he's just grasping for straws and doing his best (which is not enough). the fight off-and-on track is just so good, the proximity in the standings and the physical proximity between them going hand in hand... ugh. i love this so much!! thank you for filling my prompt, it's exactly what i hoped for!!

It’s easy to lie to Seokmin—he laps all of Jeonghan’s words up like food out of a dog bowl, eager to believe in everything Jeonghan tells him, in every little intricacy crafted just for him from Jeonghan’s sharp mind, his lies curling around Seokmin’s wrists like cuffs that keep him tied to Jeonghan’s side.

It’s easy to lie to Seokmin—if anything, because Seokmin could never recognize the truth, not when all he’s been fed for the entirety of their relationship have been pretty lies wrapped in cotton candy to mask the bitter taste of them and make them easier to swallow.

It’s easy to lie to Seokmin—especially when he’s the one begging to be lied to, asking questions to Jeonghan that he perfectly knows Jeonghan will have no truthful answers for.

“Will we last forever?” he asks, eyes wide and begging, one knee on the ground, a golden band in a velvet case open in front of Jeonghan’s well-crafted mask of surprise. He found the ring two months ago in the pocket of one of Seokmin’s coats, and now he’s pretending he never saw it before. Just another lie added to the pile. “Will you be my husband?”

“Yes,” Jeonghan says, to both, smiling his pretty smile and forcing his eyes to water by biting on his own tongue. The shiny ring is on his finger, and Seokmin is beaming at him with the force of a thousand suns, eyes crinkling up in delight.

It’s easy to lie to Seokmin—fuck him at night, in their shared bed, and let I love yous slip through his lips as if they came pouring out of his heart and not forced through gritted teeth in an imitation of real affection, one that faded long ago.

It’s easy to lie to Seokmin—caress his hair and kiss his forehead, wishing him to sleep peacefully so that he can sneak out of their bed and drown his misery in a glass of soju that he shares with his own reflection and the city lights shining through the windows, flickers of happiness that Jeonghan shapes so that Seokmin’s smile can glisten on his face once more, even if he dies inside, even if his own happiness flickers and turns to dust.

It’s easy to lie to Seokmin—because inventing a world where they’re happy, where everything is bright and beautiful for them, is easier than admitting that Jeonghan can’t love Seokmin the way he would like to be loved.

“Will you take this man as your husband?” someone asks, a faceless person that Jeonghan doesn’t even look once at, focused as he is at the bright grin on his soon-to-be-husband’s face. It’s easy to lie. “Yes.”

Seokmin kisses him like he always does, with the transport and the abandon of a man lost at sea looking for something to keep him afloat, and Jeonghan catches him before he can fall too deeply, pretending that the dread he’s feeling inside his stomach are butterflies and not the doom of a marriage that feels like a prison before it even begins.

It’s easy to lie to Seokmin—they hold hands as their friends throw confetti and shouts of joy at them, and it’s so easy to craft a mask of pure happiness on his face, since he’s been doing it for so long, since it’s the only thing Jeonghan is really able to do.

It’s easy to lie to Seokmin—because all in all Jeonghan is selfish, and he’d rather sacrifice his and Seokmin’s happiness than see him in the arms of someone else.

It’s easy to lie to Seokmin—it’s always been.

(i think i might have said this in the comment of sentimentalist but idt i could ever write jeonghan pov so i admire it even more from you) they are soooooooo the way it reads like jeonghan feels entitled to her but it doesn't feel like that because you know nayoung only doesn't reciprocate until the end because she's deeply repressed. i actually almost added "(but not really)" after "implied MCD" but then i decided to leave it up to the reader lol

Ahh this is wonderful, I really enjoyed this! You definitely got the spirit of the prompt – the sadness-sweetness-wistfulness, the uncertainty, i think you nailed it. I love how the vibes of the piece itself + the setting in iksan are warm and intimate and kind of aged-around-the-edges. I get why chan finds it embarrassing, but also why soonyoung finds it cozy and charming. The brief memory partway through of them trying to be seoul boys reminded me they’re both from small cities wayyy less urbanized than seoul. So while chan might think iksan looks boring, i feel like soonyoung may actually find it a nice break from seoul/find that it reminds him of home.

I also liked the little parallels and callbacks throughout the piece. The way chan’s unresolved feelings are for both soonyoung and his idol dreams, the way he sees his life teaching teens as pointless but it turns out one of those teens is now making it as a trainee, the mirroring between the imagined flirtation at the bar and then the actual flirtation at the pojangmacha (the way it changed from “i wish he were a stranger” to “i’m glad he isn’t a stranger”...loved it!). And, the way it’s like there are two lives in two different boxes – the physical box of the dance studio with chan’s life now, and the metaphorical box with his past life and the “future that hadn’t happened”. There are layers to this piece, even though it’s not that long (under 2k! I wish i could be that efficient lol), and the end result (to me) is surprisingly hopeful. It makes for a satisfying read <3 thank you for sharing it with us.

I love this a lot, thank you so much for writing it! Oh jeonghan…what are we going to do with you. I love that he’s still so himself, even though he’s slipped a little further down the loser spectrum than he probably wants to be, and i like to think shua sees him that way too. That kind of “how i see me vs. how they see me” is something i was really excited for ppl to portray with this prompt, and i like how you conveyed that in a way that was both rich and subtle. Like, the palpable tension, the awe vs. self-consciousness of when they’re talking to each other…delicious. I also appreciated the little cameos from other members. Of course boo and gyu are the ones who insist on staying at-least-kind-of-friends. And poor soonhee, she’s just trying to be nice but has no idea what’s going on around her. This was a really great read, thanks again for writing it!
